Cheeky Nissan
Try this for cheek.
Car recalled (second occasion) for airbag mechanism replacement. Fair enough, there is such a 'recall' on the www. Took the car to Nissan Mill Hill, collected it 4 hours later (long time for a 15 minute job), and my partner was presented with a quotation for over £500-worth of 'necessary' work.
Now, some of it was necessary (new headlight bulb), but not only was much of it only advisable (worn brake pads etc), some of it was just daft - spare tyre 70% worn!
The airbag mechanism is under the dashboard.
The spare wheel is in the back of the car, under a panel, secured with a bolt.
Point being of course is that they had to strip out the car to discover all these 'faults'. Which would lead any thinking person to wonder whether the whole thing isn't a scam, or an opportunistic attempt to drum up some extra business while they've got our car in their workshop.
This is the second time in 3 years that they've called the car back for an airbag mechanism check. My partner remembers a similar 'quotation for work' the last time too. There won't be a third time! The worrying thing is that while my partner is quite capable of saying "you must be joking", many similar women, getting on in years, might not be. Not criminal, but certainly dubious.
Any similar experiences, with Nissan or any other dealers?

It has had your car in its care - if it says nothing & you subsequently have an accident (or get a PCN) due to some defect then it will rightly be castigated.
If it points out the defects then it is ... castigated.
Which doesn't mean they are not trying to drum up some trade, just that they are also just being careful.

my local garage did a full vehicle check as 'a matter of policy' when i took mine for repair.
Caught 'em out though because they had broken a brake sensor bolt and the brake sensor was dangling when I got it back.
They said 'Not me guv - we didnt break it'
I said ' so why wasnt it on your inspection report then'
got it fixed free of charge - cheeky ***
