Lots of message boards / websites in the US are talking about a mass walk out (some by staff as well as students) to protest. It will be interesting to see Trump’s reaction.

Bring back Piers ? He was well shouted down !!
Good for them. I hope the 'powers that be' sit up and listen, though I won't hold my breath.
Good. There are some Americans with more than two brain cells then. Will the 'genius' listen to them?
Trump gave the usual answer after this last shooting. As always his answer is 'MORE GUNS'. He thinks school teachers should be armed and schools guarded by armed school marshals. Remember Trump's brother (I think it's his brother) is the spokesperson for the NRA .
They just repeat the rhetoric, '' The answer to bad guys with guns is more good guys with guns''
I doubt this will impact on his life at all.

A tongue in cheek article, that sums it up.
// Bring back Piers ? He was well shouted down !!//

Piers Moron ? he was the one who was subject to a populat petition to the president ( obama) that he should be deported. The presidential spokesman sniffed that these public functions should not be abused as cheap jokes

what are they protesting ?
sorry to be thick
The guns laws
the lack of gun llaws
mass child murder ?
the lack of presidential response ?
the failure of the FBI to act ( oo-er mrs big bill there then)?

talk about culturally significant reporting

That point may be a bit too brainy for you ZM

I’m not surprised you see it so often. Ever wondered why that is?

Oh, and can you tell me where I’ve professed to be a sociologist?
So a few will walk out, maybe even 1/2 million tops. The view of the remaining 140 odd million will not be known.

America is America not the UK. Using this to Trump bash is ludicrous it has been happening under other Presidents too and what did they do?
Didn’t Clinton ban some class of firearm in this time. The ban expired and since then Republicans and the NRA have prevented it being reinstated.
New York banned assault weapons. And you still can’t buy nukes at Walmart. Yet. So not all bad news
they could tax the bullets and shot through the roof - and then give tax credits back to bona fide and secure clubs as well as folk like the police and farmers.... It won't take all out as control here hasn't but it could be a bloody good start.....
I remain firmly convinced that the sensible people of America were to rise and campaign for some gun control, than the Republicans and the NRA would have to listen.

I know that the situation here in Britain is very different to America but look what happened after Dunblane, with the Snow Drop Campaign.

Gun enthusiasts promised that all sorts of things would happen
if most guns were banned, but the sky didn't fall in after all.

America need to realise that, just like a black President, things can change.
its a jolly good idea, but in the longer term i can't see it having a fantastic impact. More deaths in schools will follow i'm sure of that, sad as it is to say.
This is America, DT will arm the teachers, they will be trained, the next gunman will walk into a school, the police will respond and shoot the first teacher they see because he's carrying a gun.
Vulcan.....I hope that Teachers are never armed...not even Trump is that stupid.

However, if Schools are now to be guarded by armed security officers, so be it. Install some metal detectors as well....I don't have a problem with that.
I think that the notion of a visible protest is a good idea, but ultimately, it is without teeth in terms of changing mind sets.

As I, and others, have repeated times without number, America needs to be educated out of its 'frontier' mentality, and that sadly is taking far too many years and far too many tragic deaths.

They have the repugnant position where the NRA which, by definition, wants to crush any resistance to gun ownership, has the money and power over politicians to render meaningful legal changes impossible.

It has to be done by education, but there seems little willpower to start that process in motion.
