i have recently been looking for a new car and been for a few testdrives. Without fail as i have been leaving the garage, the salesman has asked the manager to come over, and the manager has checked tht i am happy with the info given etc. Why is this?

It's all about box-ticking, making sure their bosses can't fault them for anything. If you buy a car you'll probably be asked to fill in a survey to rate the garage's customer care. Anything less than 5 stars is seen as a failure for them.
