About a month ago I couldn’t decide what book to read. So I let you guys choose.
You chose Killing Floor by Lee Child. I was a bit fed up when I started it. It wasn’t what I was used to, the chapters were long and I felt at times a tad repetitive. But I stuck it out and I actually got into it and I’ve just finished it! I really enjoyed it. I’m taking a break from heavy reading with the possibility of flitting but I’m going to read something I know I can rattle through quickly to keep me settled.
It was the first in the series. Was really good. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I did.
Really gets the little grey cells working. You really can’t call who dunnit until the end.
I have read all Lee Child's novels - strangely, I found this one in paperback without a cover on sale for 10p in a Manchester library when I was up there interviewing a band, and had some time to kill.
I have received the last half-dozen on publication - they come out n November, so I get one as a birthday gift.
If you like them, avoid the films, tiddly Tom Cruise is no Jack Reacher!
Hi Queenie - hope you are good - know you and your daddy have an impending move - hope you get somewhere suitable.
Some years back - I don't like crime, thrillers, detective books etc but really got involved with the "Other Side of Midnight" by Sidney Sheldon. Please try it.
Another book I reread about 3 times was "Katie Mulholland" by Catherine Cookson. Please give that a go. It was great.
I agree with Andy H about Tom Cruise, totally wrong choice for the role. I have read and enjoyed all the Jack Reacher books except the last. OH is also a fan but he couldn't get on with his latest book. Have a go at another in the series queenofmean, they are well worth it
Many, many years ago I overheard two girls chatting about a book that one of them was reading and was intrigued. Admit I hung on and listened until she mentioned the title. It was Rage of Angels by Sidney Sheldon. I bought it and I was hooked. It is one of my favourite books and I have since bought as many of his books as I could find. The TV series that was made was garbage so if anyone saw that please believe that the book is so much better.
Douglas Kennedy, an American, writes a cracking novel, especially 'In Pursuit of Happiness', the best novel I have ever read and re-read. Could never get into Lee Child.
I agree with jj about Katie Mulholland, a great book.
