Dimplex Wall Heater Cut Out

I have a little Dimpex Wall Fan Heater in the bathroom, and decided to clean it today. We switched it off at the mains, brushed it lightly with a paint brush and blew the dust out. Replaced the cover and switched it back on but nothing. The light comes on when you pull the cord, but no fan or heating unit. Any ideas folks?

I don't know the device, but wonder if there is a safety device if the cover is not fitted properly?

Thanks H, We've checked the cover and all soundly back in place. Taken it off, checked again, given it time to reset itself. Still nothing, wish I hadn't touched it now!

Not knowing which model and all, but there is a possibility that the fan rotor is stuck somehow.
Maybe open it up and check that the fan blades rotate freely.

If the light goes on (on the fan casing?), then power is getting through.

As with hair dryers, there is probably a cut-out that prevents the heating element switching on if the fan is not generating a flow of air.

So the problem sounds as though it is with the fan blades rotating, rather than anything else. But it's just a guess.

The fan is rotating freely, I can see nothing wrong. I simply blew the dust out and cleaned the element with a soft brush. Have to get a new one I guess. Thanks anyway.

My guess would be that you have disturbed the thermal cut-out device in the heater which will cut off the power internally, but just a guess

I think I must have done Bertrum, but not knowing how to go about settling it back, I have bought a new one online. Grrr!

The safety cut-out should reset itself when the cause of the overheating has been seen to.

There is usually a further safety device ... a thermal fuse link. On Dimplexes, this usually not something that a user can fix himself.
These fans not expensive, I would fit a new one, Maydup.
