She was gobsmacked. It wasn't a full scale fire engine but it was a fire brigade vehicle. The officers helped, half carried them onto the vehicle and they were safely taken to the hospital, passing loads of snow drifts on the way. They ended up getting a taxi to their sons who lived nearer and was accessible. Don't know when they will be back home in Cinderford though.
I noticed an elderly couple being brought some shopping by one of the younger residents of our little corner of the estate - no drama, no fuss, just good neighbourliness.
