I asked a question a few days ago about this and the recent viral sinus infection I had. As I mentioned at the time on seeing the Doctor they put me on Amoxicillin for the infection as my inner appeared was very red. I am carrying on with the suggested remedy of inhalants etc to clear the tube, but I am concerned that my ear still feels very sore and is painful, although not excruciating pain. If the tube clears eventually, had it 2 weeks now, will this clear up the infection, I am sure my ear must still be red inside as it feels very uncomfortable. Should I be thinking about going back to the Doctors, although whether I can get an appointment is another matter, nightmare at the moment and would have to try for Monday morning sit and wait. Thanks any help.

This will take time as you only started the congestive therapy on Wednesday.
Persevere over the weekend on this regime and come back to us on Monday.

Thank you very much Sqad, I am always grateful for your comments, I will carry on as suggested and do another post on Monday.
Blocked tubes shouldn't cause pain unless you have been flying. If I was you, I would go and get someone to look into your ear and see if the drum is still inflamed.

It is the constant itching in the eardrum that is driving me mad, I can put up with the blocked ear. I would try putting some olive oil in it, but, of course, with a blocked ear would not chance it.
Putting olive oil in it will soften the wax? blockage, surely?
Mine is still giving me some gip after several months...it takes time for the tubes to clear according to doc it's the action of the sticky stuff suddenly releasing the sides and opening that cause the pain....so I was told..
I was specifically instructed NOT to put anything in other than menthol steam
Oh? Shows how much I know...:-)
Lol Tilly..it's sticky gummy stuff produced when you have had colds etc... not wax :0) x.
I see. Thanks, Minty. x

So the itchy ear is to do with the ear being blocked, did you have an itchy ear with yours murraymints. This is what concerns me, why have I got an itchy ear. I know I do not have ear wax and the Doctor made no mention of this and just said my ear was inflamed, for which she gave me the antibiotics. I know Doctors do not like you looking up things on the internet, but I read somewhere that an itchy ear can indicate an ear infection which is what I am worrying about. Sorry to keep on and do appreciate the reassurance from you all on here.
Yes it was itchy too..I had a short, 5 day, course of antibiotics but it was the residual goo in the ear causing my problem, still not completely clear but a lot better...a very sharp stabbing pain..
Riptide, it appears you are still having problems. The solution for you is that a qualified doctor examines your ear. Do you have any resources open today ?
The itchy ear is nothing to do with the deafness which is, as Murray says, due to thick "glue" in the MIDDLE ear. The itching is in the OUTER ear and may be due to a mild inflammation or indeed eczema ( otitis externa.
Go to the chemist and see if you can buy steroid ear/eye drops and use those in the ear...if not 1% hydrocortisone cream, which can be bought over the counter, can be applied with a cotton wool, bud.

Oh thank you Sqad, I will see if I can walk across the field to the Chemist, roads are awful round here in Berkshire. I noticed this morning that my hearing is much better in that ear so something must be happening. Thanks all for your comments.
