Ear Infection And Blocked Tube In Ear
16 Answers
I asked a question a few days ago about this and the recent viral sinus infection I had. As I mentioned at the time on seeing the Doctor they put me on Amoxicillin for the infection as my inner appeared was very red. I am carrying on with the suggested remedy of inhalants etc to clear the tube, but I am concerned that my ear still feels very sore and is painful, although not excruciating pain. If the tube clears eventually, had it 2 weeks now, will this clear up the infection, I am sure my ear must still be red inside as it feels very uncomfortable. Should I be thinking about going back to the Doctors, although whether I can get an appointment is another matter, nightmare at the moment and would have to try for Monday morning sit and wait. Thanks any help.

This is what concerns me, why have I got an itchy ear. I know I do not have ear wax and the Doctor made no mention of this and just said my ear was inflamed, for which she gave me the antibiotics. I know Doctors do not like you looking up things on the internet, but I read somewhere that an itchy ear can indicate an ear infection which is what I am worrying about. Sorry to keep on and do appreciate the reassurance from you all on here.
The itchy ear is nothing to do with the deafness which is, as Murray says, due to thick "glue" in the MIDDLE ear. The itching is in the OUTER ear and may be due to a mild inflammation or indeed eczema ( otitis externa.
Go to the chemist and see if you can buy steroid ear/eye drops and use those in the ear...if not 1% hydrocortisone cream, which can be bought over the counter, can be applied with a cotton wool, bud.
