Child Migrants Abuse Inquiry.

Reports coming from this say that over 4,000 children were affected by deportation just after WW2. The actual figure was much larger than that because the inquiry didn't deal with all the cases of children being deported prior to 1945. The reason for that was because it was felt very unlikely there would be anyone left alive who had been deported prior to WW2.

As I've said before on here, I have a very tenuous link to this as my dad was in the care of Dr. Bernardos in the 1920's and 30's and wasn't selected for "..a life of sunshine and picking oranges from the trees". I thought he was very fortunate but when I think about it I would say he was not chosen because he was an argumentative and troublesome child. Not the submissive and placid type that would have been no trouble and easy to manipulate.

This scandalous situation went on for nearly 80 years with the knowledge of governments, Dr. Bernardos, social services etc. Lots more details of this outrage will be revealed in the report published today. There is a charity in Nottingham called The Child Migrants Trust, headed by Margaret Humphries, which is still trying to trace families and relatives of those deported children, now adults, who are still alive. If you are interested, there is a film called Oranges and Sunshine which shows the scale of this atrocity. I know I've posted about this on here before, but I make no apology for doing so again as I feel more and more people should be made aware of the scale of neglect which was inflicted on innocent children by people and governments who, knowingly, totally betrayed them and thrust them into a life of physical and sexual abuse.

yes I regret that when I had an eighty year old in 1980 report that he had been abused,
The reply I got from offical dom was 'oh yeah we know all about that. They used to beat the crap out of the kids for a start. What do you want us to do ?'

There was then no appetite for historical inquiries.
are we a more just society because every week we set up a new one ?
