As a competition , what's the point of the Commonwealth Games - when the competitors are not competing against the world's top athletes ?

It would take a competing or a past competing sportsman or woman to explain the spirit of the games to you far better than I could.

I'm sure there are many articles out there.

Those are my words, others may see it a different way.
Same as the European Championships, or the Pan-American ones. They're still international competitions, giving good experience for global tournaments.
they are competing against the worlds top athletes. Are you saying that none of the worlds top athletes represent commonwealth countries?
The organisers of the Manchester games have decided to exclude all shooting sports claiming they don't have a suitable venue.
They have included track cycling events at a venue in London which is further away than the National Shooting Centre in Bisley.
Shoota, the Manchester Commonwealth Games were in 2002. They'll be in Birmingham in 2022.
In 2002, the track cycling was in Manchester, in the velodrome where our cyclists train.
You're right CJ I was getting my midlands cities mixed up whilst thinking of other things.
