Wednesday. I haven't looked outside yet, so no idea what it's doing.

My trundlebuggy is going to trundlebuggy hospital to day, so I will be away at 0730.

I had a phone call from a mate's missus, Could I make a birthday cake for their 12 year old daughter, as their cooker was sulking. What she wanted was three layers, all different colours, three colours of icing and Happy Birthday (name), in another colour. This was just after 0930 yesterday. No pressure then! I delivered it at 1700. Wee lassie was pleased and I got a big hug. :o}

Today is going to seem dull after that!

Have a happy day everyone.

Morning Gill xx like the Forth Bridge here ! lol
Morning, Minty. Sorry I was on Kindle just now and get fed up with auto whatsit.
I have got the bee nests too. Do yours hatch every year? I find that the tubes seem full all the time and don't know whether to start with fresh ones. I put them out in March and bring into shed in Sept/Oct.
this is my first bee box Gill..the garden is always full of them over summer so I have high hopes !
Good luck with it. I have a lot of bees mainly bumbles which I love. Have a lot of plants to attract them. Even bumbles on the mahonia in January.
You get solitary/mason bees in the nest tubes. They used to live in my old garage doors but when we had a new garage I got the boxes on the side. Must do all we can for the wildlife.
I have lots of bee friendly planting in the garden too..will put box high on side of shed I think...
should I put anything inside before I hang it ?
Will be interested to see how you get on. Sometimes in July I have been watching them go in and out. Also see their little heads looking out before they fly off. You are the other end of the country from me - far SW so bit milder down here.
Pouring with rain and windy today after lovely day yesterday so must do housework which I hate. Cannot put it off any longer or I'll end up all morning on here. Hate it when cannot get out.
nice day today so may put it up later..have a good day Gill xx
Missed your post. No nothing inside tube. I have round ones from I think it was the Oxford Bee co years ago. Have some new tubes I might put out this year to replace the old. The bees get mud from the garden and seal the ends then when they hatch they burrow out.
Watch out for spider's webs forming around the nest area. They are waiting for an easy lunch!
