A grand Islay. It's not difficult.
According to the article in the OP it is also on the attack for petrol.

This is all very well but at present there is no viable alternative. Even electric cars will be using electricity from fossil fuels.

Until someone can invent a super capacitor that holds charge electric cars are useless. They also need to make motors and storage capable of running coaches, buses and lorries or again it is pretty pointless.
While electric mobility is completely green at the point of use, it's getting that energy that causes the problem – two-thirds of global electricity production currently still relies on the use of fossil fuels – unlike more traditional means of propulsion where the final link in the chain (the combustion engine in the car) has the more noticeable environmental impact.

The trouble is, Tony, to believe these claims you have to trust the manufacturers emissions figures.

I have long doubted any claims made by manufacturers about their vehicles' performance, and VW have confirmed I am right to be cynical.
I agree, Hopkirk.
I'm sure other manufacturers besides Mazda will be making claims of how much their new engines ( usually under development ) are going to lower emissions.
Petrol and Diesel cars are set to be banned by 2040.

But there is already pressure to bring it forward .
I'm not sure that the commitment goes as far as you think, Eddie.

I think it is pure petrol or diesel cars that will be banned.

They will still allow hybrid cars, so the internal combustion engine will live on.
