Rub your hands on stainless steel. It works for garlic and onions.
You can get a special stainless gadget in Morrisons or kitchen shops but even rubbing on a stainless steel sink works.

ta very much! i will try that at work tomorra!
Lemon juice or a vinegar will break down the oils on the hands, a salt rub will act as an abrasive and a cold water wash with detergent before a hot water one will help remove the rest of the smell (cold first so you don't open pores in the skin and 'push' the dirt in deeper).

The metal bar also clears certain smells effectively but won't be too good with the fish. Rub a tea spoon made of steel or as above the sink / a pan etc will work too.
disposable rubber gloves
This is a US site, but similar gloves are presumably available in the UK:

after touching fish wash ure hands with cold water, if u use warm water it apparently cooks the oils or whatever is on ure hands so the smell sticks
i cook with fish alot ( i'm a chef) i always use half a fresh lemon to wash me hands with, then scrub the chopping board and knife with it, it's the only thing i know that works
Yes. Wash them in cold water first NO SOAP/cleanser as cold water closes the pores. Then wash as normal. Hot water opens the pores therefore any smells on your hands will stay there.
