In the interminable mobile phone ads on the radio, featuring Vicky Pollard's brother (apparently) telling tall stories, he keeps referring to things as 'macky'. I've heard all sorts of dreadful street talk in N London but maybe this is a west country expression?

the only way i've heard it used is a derrogatory term for the mentally disabled - reference to MacIntyre (care) homes
Heard this 'macky' malarkey on an advert running on a London radio station - and what's more the male voice-over does indeed speak in a West Country accent, but don't know if the casting is just a coincidence or not.

Maybe the company made up the word just to annoy everyone but I doubt it... Next time I hear it I'll try and get the company and call them and ask- I don't even know which company does it!

That's the meaning we all know or discovered, but 'macky gust of wind?' Just sounds like 'great big' to me. Reminds me of Stingray in Neighbours who has invented his own language for many words. The odd thing is it's still possible to understand him. Weird...
