Age of kitten???
5 Answers
My friend just got a kitten the weekend just gone.
She as told she is 7 weeks old, but we both feel there is no way.
I have a nine week old, and she is LESS than half the size of her. Also she barely eats or drinks milk, she'll sip at water, and eats about a teaspoon or two of food a day.
She will however drink about 3-4 mls of cat milk at a time from a syringue.
We're just wondering if anyone can tell from this an approximate age of the cat?
It's that my frined would like to know for things like vaccinations and flea treatments etc.
If anyone can help we apprecaite it

I would suggest the vets but they are bound to ask you to bring her in,at a cost. I bet a local group will help for nothing. It would be nice for your friend to know she is doing everything right. xx

thank you both, apprecaite your replies. I did think she was about 5-6 weeks, but then remember my lot when they were kittens were weaned by that age.
As you say the vets would charge.
I will get my friend to call a local rescue, she is feeding her cat milk , so I guess that is one good thing.
I hate people who give away cats that early, as you say so unfair!
Thanks again to you both

OKay i have 10 cats and a new kitten myself, i think the kitten sounds about 4/5 weeks to me. As far as flea treatment goes only the sprays are allowed at that age no frontline drops at all the spray will be done by your vet if you ask them. Also with wormers it has to be given in a liquid form that the vet will supply for you at that age. Vaccinations arent to be done until the kitten is older but if they are able to draw a blood sample (being so small) the vet can test for HIV and other illnesses for you until your cats jabbed. I would also speak to the vet about weaning the cat, to much cat milk will give a small kitten diorreah eventually as it needs to start to be weaned onto kitten food whiskas do a great one by the way. Good Luck i would see a vet asap as your kitten does sound very young and you dont want any nasty suprises. Good Luck and enjoy your new friend. Mandy
