Charity Advertisements On T V
9 Answers
I appreciate that there have always been large numbers of adverts for charities on T.V. around Christmas.
We are now in the last week of March and there seem to be even more than before.
We we donated 'just £3.00 a month' here, 'just £5.00 a month' there & so-on, our pensions would be eaten up entirely.

I completely agree with you...I am really fed up with starving children and abused donkeys and the rest. They have become extremely boring and also seemed to be aimed at those who are viewing during the day...i.e. the older members of the population. Those charity adverts and adverts for nappies for us old, incontinent women seem to be the sum total of adverts during the afternoon.... I am going to start watching the BBC from now on.............or start on the garden when the weather is a bit better!
I make regular donations to two charities by DD. Our only income is pension credit, so I do not worry about turning down others. The other way I help is by using Charity shops, with 12 grandchildren I am always looking round charity shops for Christmas and birthday presents. A lot of their stuff is unused and less than 10% of the new price, helps me and the charity.

That poor donkey limping gets me every time.
I’ve given to starving children, the donkey sanctuary, adopted a granny, sponsored a tiger, helped buy a water pump, given food and clothing to the homeless and refugees and tbh I feel fantastic.
Giving charity is it’s own reward but as you’ve said some times we can afford to throw notes in the air and others we’re down to looking down the backs of sofas to purchase noodles, where’s OUR charity handouts?

A friend of mine who is a really kind person - said I am now 76 years of age and when I started school at the age of 5 I was asked to bring in a penny for the black babies - so those black babies are now black elderly people - she is right - when does it ever end - I can't look at them now so usually turn channels.
The other thing is you see a little kid trying to get water on her back and having to walk miles to her hamlet. A witty guy on TV said - why don't they build their homes nearer to the river.
I do give too but I also couldn't get over being asked for the donation of £10 for cancer - that's bordering on the redic'
