Does anyone remember a sweet called a Beta Bar? It was a bar of puffed rice coated in syrup and was hard. You could get either a 5p bar or a 10p bar. The last time I spotted one in a shop was aound 1990 but were one of my faves in the eightes.

Yes I remember them. Before I clicked on the question I was just about to describe them but you've already done that, although I didn't really like them. Just one question though, did they have a few peanuts in as well or is my mind playing tricks/going senile on me?

Wahay! Someone who remembers! No, they didn't have peanuts in them. You may be thinking of Mr Tom bars - I think they had both puffed rice and peanuts. I think you can still get them but alas, it seems as if the Beta Bar is no more....
Nope, don't remember Mr Tom bars, but I do remember "Nutty" which was basically a sausage of soft toffee with peanuts clagged on.
