Ferrous Fumarate Tablets
13 Answers
I am on a course of Ferrous Fumerate (iron)tablets and notice that my urine has gone red.Went to docs yesterday and he says the tablets are not likely the cause, took a urine sample, been given a five day course of antibiotics and have to give another sample in two weeks as there is blood in it .
Have had an infection since January, slight dicomfort on passing water and my urine slightly dirty, but then went on holiday and was drinking a lot of water as it was very hot(40C) and my urine cleared .But at the begin of March had a blood test and found to have mild iron deficiancy hence the tablets.
I do not drink a lot of water and my daughter keeps telling me to,have tried to but not making any difference.By the way,do not drink alcohol at all.

We will have to wait till go back to see doc in two weeks....rather worried ,to say the least.
Thanks for answers.

O_ G yes, I agree, but it cleared only after antibiotics and we are left with a woman who is anaemic, blood identified in her urine and certainly requires further investigation.......perhaps.
kloofnek....I do not know how old you are, but it is not an uncommon scenario to come across anemia in the elderly, which is never explained. No need to worry, your GP may reassure you and "monitor the situation."
