Not used my HP printer for some time, wanted to use it today but getting message saying you can only print from apps.
What is this all about ?

So what are you trying to print from?

Is it from, say, Microsoft Word or a photo-viewing program? Are you printing from a PC or from something like an Android phone?

With a few more details we might be able to fathom out what's happening.

using my acer laptop I am trying to print a gov uk article. I have this message as I've said you can only print from an app.

Weird!

It seems that your web browser isn't sending the relevant commands to your printer. If you've not already tried it, the old trick of turning it off and turning it on again might be needed. The next thing I'd try after that would be to use a different browser.

If that doesn't help, try printing (say) a random Word document. You'll then know whether the problem is only there for web pages or if it's more widespread. If it is, try reinstalling your printer driver. (Please provide the exact model number if you need help with that).

What is your HP printer model? Did you connect it with the wireless network? You can fix it with the next steps.

1. Uninstall and reinstall the HP Printer driver. For uninstalling the printer driver, you can enter the device manager to do it. And for reinstalling the HP printer, you can also download the driver from the official site and reinstall it manually. 2. Try to restart your computer, printer and wireless router.

3. Update the printer firmware.
