Lost Post Office Savings Account

About 13 years ago we opened Post Office savings accounts for the kids. Just over 8 years ago we moved house, by mistake we forgot to change address and also we have lost the pass books !

Does anyone know how we track down these accounts - who do we speak to / write to ?

The account you have probably doesn't exist any more - the following advice is given on the National Savings web site:



What if I don't want to transfer?
If transferring to another NS&I account doesn't suit you, you can close your Ordinary Account instead. Just ask for an Ordinary Account closure form and pre-addressed envelope at a Post Office� branch. Complete the form and return it to us with your passbook. If your passbook is missing, ask for a "Lost or stolen savings book" form (NSA 49) at your Post Office� branch. Complete and return this form to us together with your closure form.

After many moons we found a book with a hundred quid in it, in my Sons name. This was a blue plastic savings ac. book. Went to Post Office was given a form and envelope sent it off, cheque back in double quick time. I did keep a photocopy of the passbook just incase.
