Problem Using Computer Mouse.

I have a friend who has developed a tremor that makes using his computer mouse very problematic. I'm thinking he might be better off with a scroll pad or track pad of some sort, the only things I've seen are combined with a keyboard and the pad is quite small. Would need to be wireless, suggestions please.

What is the cause of his tremor? Medical or just old age?

Medical, but he is in his 70's

Ok...just have to say that if medical and cause known then it might be easier to treat the condition....than sort the mouse. Tremors usually can't help any device, they IMO will always be problematic. Hope someone can suggest something but if medical problem...something like vitamin B12 deficiency ? once that's controlled there is no need for a different device. Good luck.

I've just had a look at the website of Parkinson's UK (because I assumed that they'd know a thing or two about coping with tremors). They appear to endorse TheChair's suggestion of trying a trackball.

Thanks Buenchico, that was good thinking! Looks like a toss up between the Logitech and the Kensington.

A trackball is better regardless. Have used the Logitech ever since I first came across them. They're designed to roll the ball with the thumb and use the fingers for the buttons. Might be worth checking if a left or right handed version is needed. I don't know for sure if both are available but assume they would be.

Another thank you for all the advice received. Customer reviews for the Logitech one were slightly better than the Kensington, so went Logitech. Didn't take long for my friend to decide that it was a very very good idea indeed!!!

Not only that, I was pretty impressed myself and I've just ordered one for myself, two happy Old_Geezers now.
