I was eventually told that the cooker repair man was in my area and if I paid now over the phone they would get him to call round.... :-)

I've fallen victim to one of these scams before, really an unfortunate experience! Luckily I got an email a week ago from the UN Secretary-General telling me that they were setting up a relief fund for scam victims, and if I could just send on my bank details they'd send me some compensation.
Still waiting, and in the meantime my funds are suspiciously low, but it's nice when the UN looks out for you isn't it? :)
