No doubt some mental health issues could cause some folk to act in an extreme way but that does not mean that everyone with a mental health problem will act in an extreme way.

How or why he chose to take the lives of others too we'll never know.

It must be a disappointment to some to realise that this tragedy was carried out by a 'home-grown' nutter rather than a Muslim terrorist.

I once had a ''mental health professional'' tell me that not everyone who commits suicide is mentally ill and have had another one tell me that they knew someone who had been treated for depression and then committed suicide but believed that they had got him well enough so that he could make an informed choice about taking his own life.

Until 1961 attempted suicide was a criminal offence. You could go to prison for it.

nalit not everyone who commits suicide is mentally ill. My cousin committed suicide because he was dying of terminal cancer and did not want to suffer for weeks and weeks on end.

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. It was actually your title ("Another One For Us Racists") that puzzled me most but yes the "xenophobes Islamaphobes to discuss." bit puzzled me too. And of course the sentence "He may of course just lost control. " which doesn't make sense but I think I know what you meant ("...have just lost..."

Perhaps you were setting a trap to see if anyone would jump to premature conclusions (particularly racists, xenophobes and Islamophobes) to assume this was another jihadist act when you had already worked out it was probably not.
To be fair though to those you were trying to catch out, this guy probably got the idea from previous atrocities of this nature by jihadists. And the majority of such van/lorry attacks have been Islamist so I can see why that's the first place some would look.
