If those figures are correct people must be buying a hell of a lot of the 'premium' stuff.
'Ordinary' gin is priced at between £12 and £16 in Asda. The 'premium' brands are generally priced between £20 and £25, with just a handful of brands in the £30 to £40 price range.
However dividing £1.4 billion by 51 million bottles yields an average price of £27.45 per bottle. (Perhaps that's because the figures include gin purchased in bars, rather than in shops, though???)
