When you buy a domain do you have to pay to have mail forwarded to different email addresses or can you do it yourself?

P.S. I want to frward to multiple email addresses e.g. [email protected] get forwarded to an email address and [email protected] get forwarded to another e.t.c.

Depends on your service, but you shouldn't have to pay for it.

My server has procmail support, which is a handy thing that lets you route your mail as you see fit. So with that you could send your mail anywhere you like.
