Beating Fraud At The Ballot Box
I have no problem being asked for ID before voting, but I can understand that not everyone actually has a bank card or even a current passport.

No vote here today. Something needs to be done to ensure voting fraud is eliminated pretty much totally. Not only at the ballot box but also the issues of postal votes and people who vote twice. If the system is seen to be corrupt then it is the road to civil unrest.

bhg481, Anyone can ask for a postal vote, not just the disabled or immobile .
If someone who had a postal vote also tried to vote in person it would not be allowed. That person's name and number shows as a postal voter on the register and they would be turned away.
People get postal votes for many reasons. Being away from home on voting day is a common one.

Eddie - yes, I know, I opted for postal voting a few years ago as we're frequently away from home now we're retired. TTT thinks that you should lose your vote if you happen to be away; that would, of course, include people who have to go away on business or as a routine part of their job (airline pilots, etc).
