Hi, 237....and no I had no idea about this! I have spent so long going to Devon to do my daughter's garden or decorating that to go and knit and relax would be bliss......
I've just had a brief glance through but will mull it over in more detail......thank you!...x

I've just learnt to knit, and thoroughly enjoying it!

I'm currently making a scarf for my grandson, it looks VERY handmade as I keep forgetting whether my last row of stitches was a knit one or a purl one and invariably getting it wrong when I put it down to do something else and then pick it back up, and the things full of holes, but I'm loving making it!

And that hotel, looks lovely- I'd happily stay there :-)

Boo.....folk love knitted stuff.....it doesn't have to be perfect....have a look at Knit for Peace....I do lots of knitting for them but even just look to see what others are knitting and.....how knitting is good for your mental health....
My family would probably say...thank god she knits...think what she'd be like if she didn't......

For wool, if you carry on which I hope you do, go to Aldi....their Aran wool is the best I have knitted with.......and I stock up on all their wool when it's in...x

My Mum and Grandmum were great knitters. You don't see people knitting so much these days but I have seen some knitters on long flights - a great way to pass many hours

I think more folk are beginning to knit and crochet now...and men too.....
I was taught to knit by a lady from Islay when I was five or six so I knit in a strange fashion.....but I cannot not knit or crochet when I'm sitting still....I later taught myself to crochet.
I knit as a passenger in a car and if I want to watch TV I have to knit at the same time.
I make traffic light hats for birthing units and I've just sent off lots of crocheted hearts for the Sue Ryder Malvern garden.....that's been a huge success for the lady doing it in memory of her husband...worth a google if you're interested...x

Can you take knitting needles on board flights these days, they get a bit twitchy with embroidery things and plastic forks ....who knows what you might do with a knitting needle !!

Yes you can. It's difficult to stab me with a knitting needle, apparently

Actually, cutting my throat is easier than stabbing me hence the knitting needles are OK

Darn! I had my needles taken away once so I haven’t taken them since.... :-(

Knitting needles were a bit suspect after 9/11 but they are OK now. The regulations are set by IATA and they are world wide

I wonder if a circular needle would be less frowned upon on an aircraft?
I am one of those folks who often drop one of the needles, and now have taken to using circulars, unless of course I'm knitting socks, then I use 5 x 6" ones.

That's a thought, Ferlew.....I've never used circular needles....do you get on okay with them?

Fine Gness, whether knitting back and forth as on regular needles, or actually knitting in a circle. Tell you what, there's a lot less strain on your hands too. Best bit as I said, not dropping one of the blinking needles.
