Central Heating Pipes

Hi we have recently had new central heating installed. Our problem is in the hall and kitchen they have installed long thin pipes from the floor to the ceiling and look hideous. A friend said B&Q and Wickes sells a plastic type of coving to hide them but when we went they both said they didnt stock anything like that, can anybody assist?

I think plastic covering would look equally hideous.

My pipes were like that but I boxed them in and decorated over it. Not ideal but it blends in much better.

B&Q and Wickes sell ducting and covers for electric wiring. Store staff imagination probably didn't extend to using them for pipework. Visit the stores and see if any would be suitable.
As an alternative, paint the pipes in a colour different to the background, but one that harmonises with the other colours in the room. That way they become a feature and can turn out to be be quite acceptable.

why not simply cut a channel in the wall next to the pipes and bury them in the wall. Plaster over them and forget about them forevermore. You may have to replace the pipes if they're not long enough to fit in the channel, but copper piping is pretty cheap. I did this years ago and have never had a problem. Covering them with plastic is not a good alternative as you will have to decorate round these and they will always be unsightly.

Heathfield is right, but there is also a product on the market for pipes. Electrical may be better, I've just had a search for trunking for pipes and found it very expensive. Measure what size would fit your pipes, I think go to an electrical wholesaler and ask for MT5 this should do but check(not self adhesive it's better to screw it to the wall). When you have finished fixing it, cover with lining wallpaper and run decorators caulk down the sides to hide any gaps and then paint over. You should pay around a tenner for a 3 meter lenth, I think B&Q only do 2M lenths which means you will have a joint, if you resort to joining 2 lenths then make sure you put the long cover on the short lenth so that it overlaps and the joint is staggered.

There is a purpose made plastic square adge boxing for heating pipes that is not unsightly.

Just fix it to the wall and there are ready made brackets inside to accommodate the pipe. The finished facing is then put on. Go along to your nearest Plumb Centre and they will show you.
