yep..thing is i never agree with myself ;-)
I talk to my dog a lot but I sing a lot and I can not sing for love nor money.
Talking to oneself is meant to be a sign of high intelligence - but that certainly doesn't explain why I do it all the time!
I'm always muttering away to myself, whether I'm alone or not.
I have two very vocal moggies - I talk to them.
I've talked to myself as long as I can remember. If it occurs to me to do so, I sing or recite poetry. (Quite often when washing-up.) OH has got used to it and quite likes to hear it now (finally brainwashed him!).

Thanks to Buenchico, I now have a reason for doing it! My standard reply for many, many years to people who broached the subject has been 'It's hard to find anyone else of an equal intellectual level with whom to converse.' Accompanied by a smile, it usually raises a laugh. :0)
the only time to worry is when you don't know what you will hear yourself say.
All the time, it probably started when my boys stopped listening to me, and Mr F started to lose his hearing.

Fascinating ! Keep 'em coming.

Chris, on behalf of all of us, thanks for the accolade ! I assume the more we say, the more intelligent we are ? If so, I'm about a B- .

I have been known to, the problem is not talking to yourself, it is when you answer back.

Q Why do you talk to yourself?
A It's the only time I get a sensible reply.
I DO IT ALL THE TIME. NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. JUST DON'T ANSWER YOURSELF. PEOPLE SEEM TO THINK PEOPLE WHO DO THIS IS JUST A LITTLE OFF.
I do talk to myself but as I've heard most of it before I try not to listen these days.
I've always thought out loud. I tend to think it allows all parts of my brain to stay informed and I can use the freed up neuron internal communication pathways for greater mental functions. :-p
Mr A does that a lot and it is bleeding annoying!

Half the time I don't know if he's talking to me or not, so spend a lot of time saying "What?"
I might as well talk to myself as my husband never listens to what I say anyway!
I often share my thoughts aloud and mutter to oneself, as I live alone its when I hear an answer I do wonder ..¿
I'm always doing it.. not always when I am alone either! I do it when I am at work if I am trying to figure out something complicated. My co-workers are getting used to it now. I like to think I'm talking to the cat but of course, I'm not, I'm just chattering away to myself.
