Every time i watch a program on TV about healthy lifestyle, being over weight or whatever, everything is in metric measurements, especially people's weight or height. I find it meaningless and cannot relate to it. I want to know in stones and pounds and feet and inches. At least they could give it in both imperial and metric. It is very annoying. The BBC are the worst culprits typically.

No man. Like....nobody cares. Ya dig?
"Everything is metric measurements on TV now"...though not the size of the TV screen itself, which is the diagonal measurement in (strangely) inches.
Let he who is without metric knowledge cast the first stone.
I think it is the other way around - i.e. the problem is that we are given measurements in both. Quite a lot of people who had finished school but were only young forty or so years ago have seen no real reason to get used to the metric system. It would have been much better had we switched over completely.
erm Hullooooo
we have been metric since 1972

I went to school after metric came in, but I prefer miles - I find myself going ok 1km is 0.6 miles, so they must be travelling at xxxx

I still prefer ounces - but I know that 25g = 1 oz, don't ask me litres to pints - just know that the milk bottles are close to 1, 2 or 4 pts.
