i have been trying to find a you tube or other such rendering of a joe dassin song, which has the words oh samedi soir, oh samedi soir. i thought that was in fact the title of the song but can find no trace of such a thing in the discography and other joe dassin stuff that comes up on google. i wonder if the title is something completely different? can anyone out there help or suggest something. i can remember listening to that among many other songs of joe dassin. many thanks in advance for any help

thank you mamyalynne, i went on to you tube to listen to that one and i am afraid that is definitely not the song i am looking for. samedi soir is a much slower song, rather lilting lyrics and the refrain is OH SAMEDI SOIR, OH SAMEDI SOIR, which is repeated fairly often after the verses. it was very popular at dances and when i was a lot younger i knew most of the lyrics and used to sing it myself, thanks again mamy
Fingers crossed someone finds it.
Are these the lyrics?
Samedi Soir lyrics by Ozel

Omri I have to leave you
Even the cops take a picture of me
The jealous do that talk
We make all the cuerpos vibrate
Under the sun I drink a shot
For the family I have to encrypt
Ozel is everywhere
You know where the power comes from

Oh she is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
I'm going out I'm going to do the mala
In my del dél dél
Let me cailla te les boca
Beni birakip da gittin demek boyle boyle boyle
Tonight I forget my worries
I'll make you, dance, dance, dance

It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
We have the strength and the power
You play the boss, you take a hook
The vida loca, I am watered

We had lost sight of
With the buzz she found me
I see abandoned
This is our year holds OMG
It even listens to me in his-pri
I have the slab you have not even idea
Freedom has no price
Turkish Arlines we will take off

Oh she is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
I see she followed me on insta
In my del, del, del
Let me do my habiba lease

I sip a pina colada
In 4 days I returned everything
Tonight I forget my worries
I want to make you dance, dance, dance yeah

It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
We have the strength and the power
You play the boss, you take a hook
The vida loca, I am watered

I'm in Dortmund, I'm in Budrum
In every corner, it's listening to me
I want dream life, even mif comfortable
I do not want to know how much it costs me
And here I'm walking, I'm with my team
At the train station we follow the Snaps
Let them talk get tired
Meanwhile we send the keystroke

We make ourselves beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Ozel is in the game game
We make ourselves beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
We eat the game game game
We make ourselves beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Abdel is in the game game game
We make ourselves beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
We eat the game game game

It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
It's Saturday night
We have the strength and the power
You play the boss, you take a hook
The vida loca, I am watered
This one?

thank you wolf63 but that is definitely not the song. firstly the song was sung by joe dassin and not ozel, secondly, it is a french song with the lyrics in french. samedi soir is of course the french for saturday night but there is absolutely NO ENGLISH at all in the joe dassin number. i imagine the song must have a name other than samedi soir, my guess is that samedi soir is simply the refrain and the song itself must have a different title. joe dassin did around 250 songs so going through his discography would be quite a job. i just thought that considering his popularity someone out there would know it. i shall have a go at digging up some french fans who might know. he was in fact american but spent many years in france.

i have found the answer thanks to my french friend. the song was in fact champs elysee, oh champs elysee. i had probably mistaken that phrase for oh samedi soir. well it was a very long time ago!! anyhow mystery solved and thanks to all of you that pitched in with helpful hints and ideas
Very pleased you found it.
