Dogs Sore Paw
5 Answers
Hi. My 16 yr old Border Collie has had problems with his feet for a long time but recently a very cracked pad developed into a painful open sore which is proving hard to heal. He has had antibiotics and is just about to start another course but today the vet has said it will mainly have to be just managed because it is difficult to give it chance to heal. Apart from covering it when he goes outside, which I already do (he wears a thick sock or a bandage), he suggested melolin dressings secured with micropore tape. Has anyone any suggestions of any creams, lotions etc which they have used to help healing. He finds it painful to put his foot down at the moment. Thanks!!

I've used it when my boy had a nasty rash from allergies and within a few days it had cleared up, I also used it when he was attacked and had two very deep puncture wounds from the other dogs teeth :-( I applied it generously and again, within a few days the wounds were clean, and healing nicely. Best of luck with your collie, beautiful dogs!
