I don't believe him when he says he's had an M16 assault rifle tattooed on his leg to remind him of his father, who was murdered by a gunman. Who would want to be reminded in this way? It seems perverse to me. Lots of people have tattoos to remind them of someone (I wouldn't, btw) but to have the weapon, the means by which his father died, tattooed seems like a cover story for something else. Raheem, you're having us all over mate.

My first thought was 'his body, he can have any tattoo of his choice''

Having since had many 'second thoughts', the only one I'm happy with is ''he's a plonker''

who cares its his choice and his body!
Deep.
It's just skin deep. Shallow, surely? :-)
I have seen some really good craftmanship when it comes to Tattoos but do find them a bit unsightly. Each to their own though.
I think the issue is that he's a 'role model' to many young kids who wouldn't understand the meaning behind it (if, indeed, there really is one)
Lucky his dad wasn’t suffocated.
He’d look really daft with a pillow on his calf.
I think he's quite entitled to have whatever tattoo he wants, I do however, think that when he is representing this country (his team may even feel the same way), he should pull his socks up.
have to agree with you, Clarion, who would use a tattoo to show how his father was killed? What a dingbat. Still, footballers aren't bought for their IQ.
I've got tattoos on my arm to remind me of both my parents. One says 'Mam' the other 'Dad'. Of course i could have had the words 'Heart Failure' and 'Cancer', but i chose not to :-/

Of course, Ken. Lots of people have those, but a rifle to remind you of how your dad was killed? In honour of him?! Come on! That's a load of bull.
I saw in The Evening Harold today that it may refer to the England team's habit of shooting itself in the foot. :-)
Up to him what he has tattooed on him. I like nice tattoos, this isn't one of them imho, but then it's his body and his choice.x
