My belly gets hard after beer!?
4 Answers
It's nothing serious, or I don't think it is, I'm not in any real pain or anything. I'm 22 years old, and after a few beers, I'd say the 8 or 9 mark (thats not much to drink for me) , I get a really bloated feeling, and my stomach gets quite sensitive, even to touch. I have looked in the mirror when this has happened and I think it looks bloated, but I might be seeingthings if you know what I mean. I have got a couple of friends to touch my belly and they say that it feels hard and tight. Even the slightest touch stings, it's really weird to explain. I don't know if it's my imagination though, the mind does play tricks on you anyway. What would you say to the doctor? I mean, it's not the easiest thing to explain. Any tips? ideas what it is?

Normally the stomach lining is pink like the inside of your mouth. When the stomach lining becomes inflamed, the term is gastritis. It has nothing to do with gas.
Common causes of gastritis are tobacco, excessive alcohol, and excessive caffeine. Emotional stress may play some role.
The doctor can precribe a course of tablets to reduce the symptoms but he will insist that you cut down the alcohol to prvent long term damage or H.pylori.

Do you suffer from excessive wind too, have you been on a course of antibiotics in the last year? If either of these is the case it may be you have Candida. You should see a Doctor but Candida can be controlled by no alchol, no sugars, no carbohydrates and eating lots of probiotic yogurt.
Even if it's not this I would stop drinking for 2 weeks and if the sypmtons persist see a Doctor. Long term drinking 8-9 pints is going to have a seriously adverse affect on your health at 22 that might not seem important but at 42 you may wish that you hadn't drunk so much!
