Sisters bloke
9 Answers
My sister has been with her partner for 16 years. He will not let her have any friends in the house. She has not had any friends for 16 years, other than people she saw at work, and her social life was her partner, in the house, and a holiday once a year.
She rebelled against this recently and started going out to pubs with her students- which is a whole other issue.
I would like to know what YOU would do if your other half refused to let you have any friends over- EVER.

Her partner obviously has issues, I would suggest they attend Relate or some other relationship counselling together. I'm not making excuses for the guy but nobody who is completely comfortable with themself would let this go on. Does he go out with his friends?
I feel that your sister rebelling is only going to make matters worse, especially since you mention she is going out with her students, and there would be no chance of saving the relationship. If your sister is unhappy and doesn't love her partner any more then she needs to end it not carry on like this.

It is difficult to leave relationships at the best of times but i'm guessing her boyfreind has worn her down over the years she probably feels as if she cants! but the rebelious streak you've noticed has to be a good sign! I hope she sticks at it and finds she has a great life out there waiting for her!
I would say that her boyfriend is a VERY insecure man. He needs to feel important and absolutely necissary in all situations. I have heard of relationships that start out this way, and turn verbally and physically abusive. I would hope she would want to get help fast, and not be ok with the situation at hand.
If my man tried to do this I would first probablly be angry, but try to analyze what is causing his insecurities, and help him out.
Hope your sister takes care, and everything works out :)
