Decorating advice needed

I need some decorating advice!

I have just moved into a new apartment, and I need to add some colour to my bedroom. The walls and ceiling are all white, and the carpets are beige. The window frame and door are light coloured wood. The bed and dresser are brown-black wood.

So� I was thinking of painting an accent wall behind the bed to liven things up.

The bed will be right in the middle, with 2 white pendant lamps hanging over the bedside tables.

Any suggestions for a great colour for the accent wall??

Strong bold colours say alot about a person., including in the bedroom, what about using a textured wallpaper that will add colour but also a warm sensual feel above the bed?

Thanks blondebird, but I am not a wallpaper fan. Was thinking more of a solid matte colour.

My other option is boldly coloured curtains.

I could do either the wall or the curtains, or both.
If i do both, should they be the same colour, or perhaps 2 complimentary colours??

Drestie what about a dark green done with the suede effect behind the bed .My friend did it and it looked fantastic ,the rest of the walls were white and the bedspread a beautiful cherry red .Really dramatic and classy .

What aspect does your bedroom face. South, north, east or west? North facing rooms get little sunlight and you might want to have some deep pinks or fuschias to add a feeling of warmth. South facing rooms can take the colder colours such as dark blues or greens. However, painting one wall a contrast colour will close down the feeling of space and roominess if your other walls are white and your carpets are beige. If you want a feeling of real tranquility and unclutteredness , keep everything, including curtains and bedcover white or beige. We've done this in our bedroom and when you first walk into the room it seems twice the size as it previously did.

I think the color you choose, if any, will dictate the color selected. Do you want warm and cozy or cool and refreshing? Select the color based on the feeling you want to have while you are in there. I drag stuff to the paint store with me when making the selection which saves one from disappointing results.

The room faces west, and it gets light for most of the day, especially in the afternoon.

I definitely want color in that room, because the rest of the place is very bland: lots of white, black, beige, and taupe.

I LOVE the idea of a fuschia wall, but won't that be too girly?
I don't want to scare potential suitors away!
And if I did do a fuschia/hot pink accent wall behind the bed, what colour curtains should I put up on the adjacent wall?

Oooh also, do you think I should paint the entire far wall, or just the space between those corner bits that stick out? Will it make the room seem smaller if I just do the middle bit?
