Does anyone know what a stitch is, the sort you get in your side after running? What is it, and what causes it? Is it the exercise or the breathing or what? And how can you avoid them?

It's caused by the liver and diaphragm pushing together. Hard to avoid but if you have one on your left side, time your breathing so you expel when your right foot hits the ground. Vice versa if on the right side.
