We had a priest like that, if you couldn't recite the catechism word for word, you'd get a slap..only 5 at the time...'orrible man !
I see OTT retribution threats are going well at AB. The guy is obviously unable to judge proper action and needed to be led off somewhere where he couldn't act inappropriately further, and the church asked to explain why he was in a position he didn't have the metal ability to handle. Appropriately, I understand he's not doing the christenings now, correct ? The parents acted correctly; beating up or killing a feeble old man would be inappropriate.
Agree, OG, I would have just walked out.
I agree....the parents acted with great dignity....and of course they were right to do so.....but

If I was holding my baby and anyone slapped his or her face I would give a jolly good slap back.....that way the person would know what can happen if they slap a baby and just what it feels like to be suddenly slapped.....and I wouldn't be left forever thinking.....Lord I wish I'd given him a slap too.....x
He obviously had a vocation ...

... as a child molester - so the Priesthood was a very suitable profession.
If the priest was my age I'd have punched him. I couldn't punch an elderly man though.
It's interesting to read all the post of how abers would retaliate physically to this old man , what he did was dreadful, He could have dementia ?
Dave what evidence do you have That That man is a child molester ?
I neither could nor would excuse an attack on one of my children.....age or mental capacity...it wouldn't matter. Age is no excuse for this behaviour and he's not so far into dementia that he doesn't know what he did....you only have to read his excuses to see that.x
Smacking a small child hard on the face is molestation in my book, anne
Ok dave, so physical molestation on one piece of evidence. In no way am I condoning what this man did dreadful for the child and family.

I can only reiterate what I have said - priests have no idea how to handle children because they only interact with them in the utterly false and sinister dealings of confession and so on.

This priest was obviously frustrated that his attempts to calm the child were not working, and he had no idea how to handle the situation, and lashed out. That does not make it OK - far from it, but at least he has been removed from behaving so appallingly again.

The Catholic church has acted as it always does in abuse cases - move him along, nothing to see here ...
Good grief that's disturbing, it looks like he doesn't want to let go of the baby. Freak!
