Absolutely, yes
Forget to mention ... I have heard stories about mice making cosy nests under decking after it's been installed ...
aaah, so that's why the cat is always under there...
Make sure you check with your local Planning department, they can get you to take it down again if it ain't done right.
why would he have to get permission for decking??

i have never heard of that before and i sell the stuff!!

back to the question.......yes,throw some decking over the concrete.
Because some people put up decking without any thought for the neighbours (I am sure in this case it would be fine) and then they open the curtains and fnd a family having breakfast right in front of their bedroom window practically. Or there are problems re conservation areas etc. etc.The BBC have been asked to put a warning at the beginning of their programmes like Ground Force but they have refused. So it can be that if it is not done correctly it can contravene planning regulations and then enforcement action can be taken, so always best to check.
i understand what your saying, is this where they turn a roof into a decked area??
we have put decking over patio slabs easy to do and looks great, better than a concreat jungle
It is where they deck large areas higher than ground level ... and the neighbours feel it is encroaching on their privacy, or it is so large that it is almost like a building, and believe me some people do it on their own and do it unbelievably badly ! I am sure your company make a fine job of it rugeleyboy, but it is something to be aware of. Plus there are rules if children under 5 are using the decking about balustrades and the like, and multi level decking may not have the right loading and may contravene building regs.
All this about planning is very simply wrong.

Do you mean it is wrong from a factual point of view or from a red tape and beaurocracy point of view flyciderman ?
I mean you are wrong. Planning regulations do not cover this type of work.
Well as I said in most cases it would be fine, but if it is very high or dangerously built etc. etc. enforcement action could be taken.
I agree but I was talking about decking a rear yard not the case thqt you make highlight.
