He was just singing along and having fun. He wasn't playing Wembley Stadium. Maybe some people should just see that in context

Maybe you guys are right. I have just always found him irritating though.
Well, I wouldn't particularly say that I love him as a person. I kind of want to but I don't. I preferred John Lennon because I liked the fact that he stuck to his political beliefs and he didn't give a *** about what anybody else thought about him. There would be no Beatles without Paul McCartney though. And we would all be much poorer for that
You lot are all too young. Having grown up in the Beatles era and seeing them live, twice at the City Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne how on earth can you say bad things about him?
The music he wrote with John Lennon will live on for years and years. He is a star and always will be.

So called “stars” these days use, I can’t remember what they call it to enhance their voices at Live concerts.

I do think his voice is not as good as it used to be but to not like him and find him, irritating NM is a travesty!!
I don't think Lennon was a particularly nice character. Didn't he call out to Judy Garland after she'd made a suicide attempt, "Hey Judy, show us yer wrists?"

My impression of him is that he was a cruel narcissist and ultimate virtue-signaller. Didn't he also think he was more famous than God?
Yes his voice is not what it was but I still really enjoyed watching that. There seems real warmth for him in Liverpool. And the audience at his surprise gig clearly loved it and weren't complaining about his voice- I'm sure they will never forget that day.
(Now I heard Bonnie Tyler on the radio yesterday singing live- now that is someone who has really lost their singing voice - tuneless and raucous)
>My impression of him is that he was a cruel narcissist and ultimate virtue-signaller. Didn't he also think he was more famous than God?
Er- do you mean John Lennon who said they were more famous than Jesus?
Any post that uses the term virtue signaller loses all credibility anyway to me.
Well Andy, have to say I've not heard the full repertoire of Wings, having given up on them doing anything amazing after a while. On your recommendation I've just listened to "Maybe I'm Amazed" on YouTube. One of his better later efforts, I'd rate it 'adequate'. Song title overused in the lyrics, a fair few "yeah yeah yeah"s. Hardly grips the listener. The only one I'd give credit for in his later years would be "Mull of Kintyre", which was a departure from his normal style. Tends to make me think that Lennon had to have been the driving creative force in the Beatles. Or if being charitable, maybe the interaction between the two created something.
fiction-factory, I saw Bonnie Tyler on television recently. She really shouldn't.
Brilliant.

I hope all those people bought a drink.

His voice doesn't have to be up to it anymore when you have a whole crowd singing along. It's the atmosphere that makes it.
FF - I'm devastated that my post has lost all credibility due to your aversion to a certain phrase.

I shall console myself later with a glass of fizz or two in my garden whilst the OH fires up the barbie. Life's a beach, and all that.
It was a nice thing to do, and it seemed fun, he's not my musical taste though, but John Lennon, like so many talented tormented poets, artists, actors and musos was just a nasty bit of kit, so however good his stuff is I'm not a massive fan (Eleanor Rigby however is a song and a half).
This is great.

I loved the Beatles, Paul McCartney and Wings. I still have one of the original Band on the Run albums.
