Although I am delighted they have all been found alive and well, I don't understand what on earth they were doing there in the first place. Does anyone know ?

Nobody seems to know why they went into the caves, but I'll bet that the football coach, who led them in, will have some awkward questions to answer.

Ummmm, being able to swim in this situation wouldn't be of much use as a great deal of the escape route in underwater. However, the ability to swim would mean that the person feels relatively comfortable and at ease in and around water and therefore they might adapt quicker to the rudimentary scuba techniques which they might have to be taught.

It's just a vital skill that every child should be taught.
