vectra auto cuts out

hi can you help i have a 97 R reg vecta 2.0 that when you pull up to a junction or slow down it cuts and some times doesnt idol. i took it to vaxhall and put it on a machine they say it had low amitions then wanted to charge �52 a hour to find out why but carnt afford to. open to any answers.

Not sure if the set up on the vectra is the same as my cavalier, but mine was doing the same. what it was on mine was there is a "I think it's called" an idle valve. it sits on top the engine and is about the same size as a jam jar and has rubber hoses going in to it, it basicaly sticks. if you have one of these you need to take it off and give it a good clean with carb cleaner..
