having got the house cool then opening all the windows and doors to let the breeze blow through and freshen everywhere after being closed up.....not to mention all the holiday clothes wafting on hangers in the utility room......
Not bliss was somebody lighting a huge smokey bonfire......I'd have won gold for shutting windows and doors......but the house still smells of smoke.....
Annoying thing was I couldn't see who the culprit was.....I have a long hose.... :-(
Another good reason to move to Germany - no bonfires on Sunday there.
Whilst I was there last week I made a mental list of "Things they do better in Deutschland" ... which I will bore people with next time I get bored with domestic life chez SD.
I may also include "10 good things about living in Belgium" and "Blimey that Switzerland is a bit dear" and even "Luxembourg - why is is so cheap".
Not a barbecue, Rowan....far too much smoke and embers flying about......
We had a lovely, long holiday.....well most of it.......but I shall avoid hot and humid cities from now on......especially in the company of a man with very long legs!!!
I have a short Irishfemale friend she would be a perfect travel companion. She also attracts a nicer class of chap. We have had some interesting times in restaurants involving a number of freebies and wine upgrades.
That happened to me a few weeks ago and I know exactly who it was. I had my washing on the line and had to wash it all over again. The bonfires were lit 5 or 6 times over a 2 weeks as they were clearing a very overgrown garden.
Luxembourg, cheap fuel, cheap food, cheap wine and spirits (try the Wormeldange - a Moselle through and through), cheap ciggies, cheap cigars - and the food and wine can be really good as in Belgian-German portions and French quality. And places like Vianden are really nice, as are the people......
Sounds fun, Rowan......I guess three would be a crowd....unless you fancy having two short female Irish friends..... ;-)
I think this may be an overgrown garden from a house that's not selling, Tiggs.....but it's not difficult to be thoughtful to others....especially when most around here work and enjoy their weekends.....x
I agree Gness. I very nearly had to wash the same clothes a 3rd time but brought them just in time. Had to close all my windows every time I smelt the smoke.
Maybe if Germany had had a more liberal attitude towards bonfires on a Sunday Mr Hitler and friends might have been diverted from expansion and annexation by a spot of garden tidying.
