Then, when the Poll Tax was introduced, i had an increase of almost £500 to find, as did my wealthier neighbour. Obviously my wealthier neighbour found this extra money a lot easier than i did - probably took it out of petty cash or wrote it off against some fictitious tax. And that's where it was unfair. And that's why i joined numerous protests, both locally and nationally.
And if your question was an attempt to ask why we are not marching against the Council Tax, PP, it's because 'we fought the law and the law won'. Either that or the soles of our marching boots are so worn and we can't afford new pairs 'cos we're paying the same Council Tax as our wealthier neighbours :-) :-/
I didn't pay my poll tax and marched against it,went to court, still didn't pay baliffs came round, still didn't pay back to court, still didn't pay more baliffs came round I wouldn't let them in back to court etc etc and ended up paying baliffs and court fees on top of my poll tax but I too would do the same again if I were younger with no family or work commitments
