Pig, Lamb Or Chickens On A Spit

Have you spit roasted a pig, lamb or chickens before?

We’re having a BBQ this weekend and someone thought it would be a good idea to have a medieval spit to make it different. I’ll have a look on YouTube and google tomorrow but just wanted some first hand experience from you first.

What would would you use and where can this be sourced from? Tia.

Don’t worry, I didn’t realise you could get electric spit so am unsure whether they’re bringing a manual spit or an electric spit, might be better for me to find out first before asking.

Ive done a chicken on a spit. Took about 80 mins. Was gorgeous too.

Spit roast pig is to die for. My butcher often doers one outside the front of his shop. Always popular. Always delicious.

I am not a pork fan. But I do make an exception for a hogroast. You could however do a mixed roast with a couple of legs of lamb, a large leg of pork and a couple of chickens. Depends how long the spit is. If it's a commercial size one it's Babe all the way.

If inexperienced maybe start small this year with chicken. Work up to lamb or pig when you have the hang of it, and know how far in advance you need to start. Sounds ambitious for a novice to me.

Don't forget to pluck your pig first.
