Mr Javid is not advocating that those from the EU already working here will be dismissed from their jobs. What he is suggesting is that post-Brexit the same rules should apply to people seeking to enter the UK from the EU as they do to those entering from elsewhere.
At present the system is extremely discriminatory in that the EU's freedom of movement legislation means that those from the EU are not subject to scrutiny by the UK immigration authorities. We have no option but to allow them entry and settlement. There is no reason why this should continue simply to encourage the EU to reach an agreeable Brexit settlement. Unfettered immigration (and all its effects) was one of the principle reasons why many people voted Leave. To provide "priority" for migrants from the EU (which will almost certainly mean freedom of movement by another name) is not meeting the wishes of the electorate.

"Are these the people we’re trusting to run everything, rather than the EU?"
That's getting a bit tiresome, Zacs.
You must surely realise by now that many people would like to have people in charge whom they can dismiss from time to time (however inept they may be) than have in charge people who are appointed by nobody in particular and over whom they have no control whatsoever.
You may not agree with that or be able to understand it but to continually raise the same question is somewhat pointless because I believe you already know the answer and the rationale behind it.
