Why not allow time for people to walk down the stairs from a first floor flat?
Now I have a 10 minute walk to a bus stop then a 20 minute bus ride to collect a parcel
Should imagine the postage was unfairly hefty
Cost me £1.01p to send 2 pages of a local tabloid to my family
A friend has a sign by her doorbell it just says 'disabled please allow extra time' it seems to work. I have a similar phrase on my delivery instructions to my mum's address when I order from Amazon. Although I have told her to shout from the window at them to hold on.
I live in a normal house in a quiet village . I have a door with a bell and a knocker. On several occasions I've had a "sorry you were out" card shoved through the door when I and my husband have definitely been in. It's infuriating.
I'm convinced that there is some scam where the postie gets a bonus for carrying undelivered parcels back to the depot.
Mine is an expert in the "card without knocking" game - I caught him doing it the other week & pointed out that he was on my security camera & I could prove he hadn't tried to knock/ring - hopefully that will concentrate his mind in future ...
