AFTER Windows 10 was upgraded in around April first of all my attempts to edit pictures in Photoshop Elements were unsuccessful saying I did not have enough RAM which I don't understand. There was another smaller update more recently and now I cannot even open my photos with Windows!
I got a load of complicated instructions via the Adobe support site but I must have got it wrong as the installation file for Elements disappeared.
Should I just 5ake the bull by the horns and do a Windows 10 (already on my laptop when bought last year)? I have my necessary stuff backed up on an external hard drive but would doing this get rid of my picture issues?
I am tearing my hair out as just learning how to use my DSLR camera out of the auto mode.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Not enough RAM translates to not having enough memory to perform the thing you're trying. Perhaps there is less memory left for Photoshop Elements to use since the update. See if you have increase the amount of memory you have. Or maybe close other programmes when trying to use Photoshop Elements ?

I didn't have this problem before the update and it seems other Adobe users have had this issue. I hadn't thought that the update had maybe overloaded my 4gbRAM as I haven't downloaded anything since.
Thanks folks, I will trawl through my Windows files and delete some out of date stuff and may uninstall the large update.
I feel a lot more positive about finding a solution to this problem. :D
Downloaded files are stored on disk. They don't use RAM until you run them, or run something that uses them. Disk space ought not be mistaken for memory (i.e. RAM). Only in specific circumstances can it mimic memory.
4Gb of RAM is not enough for for many of the tasks that PS Elements uses. I have 8Gb and use Lightroom and Photoshop (full version) and I consider 8Gb to be the bare minimum, so will soon be increasing it. How much space do you have left on the drive that you have your OS on? I have my OS on an SSD and pictures stored on a separate drive for other stuff. You may find that you are running at the bare minimum and updates often start taking up space. See if you can do a disk clean up.
