I read in my daily that one was being used in theR.A.F anniversary fly pass? I always thought that they were used for troop and cargo duties. Thank for you answer.
There will indeed be a Dakota in the fly past (weather willing), there are many non-frontline aircraft included, trainers, transports etc. Of course the Dakota was seen on many a battlefield before anyone points that out :-)
I don’t know about bombers, but my family and I emigrated to South Africa in 1948 by air. I was 14 at the time, and I’m sure that the KLM plane we flew in was a DC3. Ive asked KLM but they have no records. The flight took 30or 36 hours and we had 5 stops. Amsterdam, Tunis, Kano, leopoldville and Elizabethville
