The troops will be out to sort out the choas. How did we ever manage before being in the EU?

Are we in for a daily treat from Treason Mays bunch?

Pity they cant use them to help police some of our streets today.

\\A supplier of coffee to Aldi, Giles Hurley, said he was thinking of storing six to eight weeks stock.//

Oh yeah, loads of coffee is grown in Europe.
Then again, better safe than sorry. I mean, if it turned out that the scare stories were even half true and there was no contingency plan in place... well, let's just say that I'm sure that in that scenario you'd have been glad that the government was pessimistic about no-deal Brexit.
There should be no surprise that the government is planning for change. They will have had 33 months notice when we eventually nearly leave the EU next year. The scandal is that no proper planning has been undertaken to cope with a proper Brexit.
Think this explains everything!

But this is not the Remain campaign "plotting" this, it's Brexit ministers. And there is no vote at stake, so there'd be no point in scaring anyone.
I would be amazed if there was a "no deal" because it would, actually, be catastrophic - depending on how much notice was given.
The problem is you only have to tell people there's a threat of shortage and the numpties are all off to buy up the bread, sugar, etc etc. But it's better than doing nothing.

Ick, this is part of Treason Mays campaign to get people to go for her woeful 'white paper'

It's so bad Remainers and leaver hate it!
yes maggie, Humpy describes the EUSSR to a tee there!
It doesn't matter if people go for her white paper or not.
What matters is will the EU buy it.
They aren't going to be wetting themselves about food deliveries by the army, specifically. They don't want "no deal" either though.
Theresa May & then on the other hand.Theresa May not.
Barnier has already stated that it is not acceptable.
There will be no shortage of food. This island is surrounded by fish so a few navy gunboats to keep the interlopers at bay should be sufficient. We can also grow our own spuds. 'Dig For Victory!'
The whole idea that there will be widespread food shortages is preposterous scaremongering. Nobody has explained why there should be such shortages, only blandly stating that there would be.

As I keep saying and as incredible as it may seem, trade takes place despite the best efforts of the EU to make it difficult not because of their efforts to facilitate it. Trade will continue post-Brexit whatever "deal" is cobbled together or even if none is forthcoming. "No deal" will not be catastrophic. The EU will make a nuisance of themselves as is their wont, the protectionist instincts that have been honed over forty or more years rising to the fore. But life will go on because, believe it or not, there is very much more to life than the EU.
Big spud and carrot growing area around here- local hens for eggs and cows for milk. I heard someone on R4 bemoaning that olive oil supplies may be temporarily interrupted, well Rape Seed oil is healthier and also grows around here - oh, I forgot to mention, we've a lot of sheep, too.

All our butter used to come from N.Z. before '72 - they're happy to do a deal again. etcetera, etcetera...…. Total rubbish, Project Fear x 397(n) has become positively Pythonesque..

I forgot, we make Yorkshire Gin, Yorkshire Wine, Local Beer (v. good) and a distillery has opened up a few miles away and will produce whisky next year (the spirit is already pretty good) :)
If there is a shortage of toilet rolls, will we all be given a white paper?
^^^^ Nice one, Theland!
If the EU "buys" May's offer (and it seems they are already rejecting bits) then there has to be uproar in the Tory party, a change of leadership, and withdrawal of the inadequate red line busting offer. The idea is to leave, not drop any small insignificant voice we had. The question should be, which side of the table officially sinks it.
well, how did the Olympics security arrangements go? Easy peasy, just hand the job to G4S.

Who bungle it beyond belief, so the troops were called in.

Pity they cant use them to help police some of our streets today.

Uh, yeah, perhaps the answer to that one would involve hiring actual police, rather than reducing their numbers?
