Glorious Goodwood Punt

Though, as i intimated at the weekend, not so glorious for me in recent years. Still, on the premise that you have to be in it to win it, i persevere, though i will only be staking a fiver a day unless the placepot tempts me - then the stake will be £6. So, worst case scenario is that i lose £30.
Hoping to get the meeting off win a winner and am relying on a stable who appear to win the opener every 'other' year, having won it 4 times in last 10 years - they won it last in 2016. Early post as i am finishing a job off today, hopefully in time for first race, but i often get the old, "While you're here, could you just?", so i may miss a couple of races :-(
1.50; Royal Rebel @ 13/2 (7/1)
3.00; Tip Two Win @ 4/1
4.45; Poyle Vinnie @ 11/2 (6/1)
5.15; Dance On The Day @ 11/1 (12/1)
Total stake = £5. Enhanced prices for the e.w. component of the bet, regular prices for the L15. 4 placed = approx £46, 4 winners = £4,181.
Best of luck to all who take on the bookies today - especially me :-)

I need to go out pretty soon and will revise my punt later on if needs must. I notice that Poet's Society is running in the 3.00 with Dettori onboard( third run since last Saturday) so will keep my eye on that. Maybe a mugs double with Poetic Charm in the 4.40.

Hearing you loud and clear, Togo. Not a great deal to get really excited about with today's meeting and my hand has been more or less forced into choosing the 4 races below. I do quite fancy the first and last, and just hope the other two run well enough to at least place.
3.00; Escobar @ 11/2
4.10; The Great Heir @ 11/2
4.40; Promising @ 22/1
5.15; Hibernian @ 9/2
The usual 20p L15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = approx £45, 4 winners = £7,144.67p :-)
Placepot; 3-7-6-1-3-7
Good luck all and let's just hope that none of the horse's feelings are upset in any way, shape or form and that they all thoroughly enjoy their day out at the races :-)

Will obviously have bets elsewhere but, for the sake of this thread, sticking to Goodwood and relying heavily on my fav stable - Fahey - to put me in the black for the entire meet. Not an impossible ask when you consider that the horses have 3 different pilots.

Ahh well said the soul. Started with a bang with my outsider in, then reverted to type with the remainder. Small consolation of a 50p e/w on it so no lasting harm. Haven't yet checked your selections as I have been sitting out back with my son and "She who must be obeyed" in the sunshine but will do so in due course. Son tells us that he has a flight booked for Indonesia in less than 4 weeks and a work permit applied for in Australia. If the work permit is not forthcoming he is travelling back through SE Asia Vietnam and surrounding countries, and if it does he may be gone for 2 years. Good for him. He has been working 70+ hour weeks to get the loot together for the last 3 months but paying ridiculous amounts of tax, which has finally opened his eyes.
I ended the meet as i began it - with a blank sheet. Still, worst case scenario was averted and i ended up losing just £13.20 over the 5 days. Did manage a winner and 3 placed (£31 back) at Donny and Thirsk, but only got 3 results correct from 9 in my first football acca of the new season. Then again, did manage the 2-1 to Scunny @ 10/1 in a 50p 2-1 correct score patent - Bristol City drew 1-1 and Notts Co 0-0. There's always next week :-) Sounds like your lad is in for the adventure of a lifetime, Togo. Good luck to him.
